英语简爱观后感1Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’, is a novelreflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.
The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in histwenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and toexpose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets inLondon.
The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into aworld full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the littleOliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at thesame time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as waswritten in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil andOliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most isthat after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care ofMrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Roseread to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behindforever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.
How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive afflictionremain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think itis the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believedthat goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness isomnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happilythan those who are evil-minded.
For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for aperson. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodnessis an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘Thefragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodnessundoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are gratefulto him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do goodto both the people he has helped and himself.
To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence ofthe goodness in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show nosympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On theother hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, moneyis the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannotget profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are facedwith trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts thatI really detest.
Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities ofthe mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, manis a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’
That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from thekind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.
英语简爱观后感2Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscurebut self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having along journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so muchto recall and to think:
We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who hadhurt her deeply in the past.
We remember her pursuit of justice. It’s like a companion with thegoodness. But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodneon one side andmust check the badneon the other side.
We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In heropinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences instatus、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal inpersonality.
We also remember her striving for life, her toughneand her confidence…
When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or atranscendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of herpersonality.
Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’tmake others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And someothers even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so whenMiIngram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she wasobviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’. But as thelittle governehad said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, andlittle, I am soulleand heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of equalityin Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, Godgave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respectimpreus so much and let us feel the power inside her body.
In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feelthat one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautifulas the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that thebeauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will likethe person no more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul,a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY, just as Kahill Gibranhas said, that ‘Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted’. I can feelthat how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguishwhether a man is of nobleneor humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’tdistinguish whether a man is of nobleneor humbleness, but as there are greatdifferences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is nobleor ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.
Her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from herexperience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.
英语简爱观后感3This is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposedto a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for herideal life. The story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independentspirit.
It seems to me that many readers’ English reading experience starts withJane Eyer. I am of no exception. As we refer to the movie “Jane Eyer”, it is notsurprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold ina new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.
Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was veryyoung, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag.Since Jane’s education in Lowwood Orphanage began, she didn’t get what she hadbeen expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as anyother girl around. The suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Janeto be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.As a reward of revoltingthe ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner,Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Jane expected tochange the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane andRochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, sheunfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed tobe the shadow following Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time----Rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation. Jane did wantto give him a hand, however, she made up her mind to leave, because she didn’twant to betray her own principles, because she was Jane Eyer. The film hasfinally got a symbolist end: Jane inherited a large number of legacies andfinally returned. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his originalmad wife, Jane chose to stay with him forever.
英语简爱观后感4In the story, her life can be devided into five parts.
At Gateshead(before ten years old)
At Lowood School (8 years—— school life,6 years to study ,2 years toteach)
At Thornfield(about one year, the most important time in her life)
At Moor House(half a year)
At Ferndean Manor(maybe the rest of her life)
It is known to us,even though living at Gateshead,in such a beautiful housewith the Reeds, Jane Eyre——s childhood wasn——t filled with happiness. JaneEyre——s uncle Reed had taken her to his house when her parents both died.On heruncle——s death bed he had made his wife, anut Reed, promise to look after JaneEyre like her own children, but she didn——t keeping her promise.People thoughtMrs Reed was a good woman, becasure they didn——t know how she hate Jane and arecruel to her.MrS Reed——s attitude made the others change their view to Jane.Hercousins did not love her even bullied and punished her all the time. The servantBessie is the only person who was kind to her.
Jane has spent most of her childhood in Gateshead,no other than thisspecial experience shaped her personality of brave and strong to challenge hernew life.
At Lowood, she was both excited and nervous about the new place she had seeand the new people she had meet.Life at Lowood wasn——t good at thebeginning.People there must believed in hard work, plain food, simple clothes andno luxury of any kind.So most of them were offish except Miss Temple, theheadmistress of Lowood School.
Jane has made a friend here, the first really friend——Helen Burns. The girlwas smart and kind-hearted but was hated by her teacher Miss Scatcherd andalways be punished because of her “untidy and careless”。Jane was so angry aboutthat,on the contrary,Helen told her:“Life is too short to continue hating anyonefor a long time.We all have faults, but the time will come soon when we die, whenour wickedness will pass away with our bodies, leaving only the pure flame of thespirit. That——s why I never think of revenge,I never consider life unfair.I livein calm, looking forward to the end. ”
That is true, her life was too short! When Jane felt she was accepted, learnedto like school and set to work to learn as much as she could, make as manyfriends as possible,Helen——s illness was much more serious than Jane firstthought, she had got a tuber culosis. One morning Miss Temple found Jane asleepwith Helen Burns dead in her arms.Helen have a great effect on Jane, she teachedJane how to learn to love, forgive and do as the Bible tells:“Sometimes you haveto put up with some hard things in life even if other people hurt us.”
Jane stayed for eight years in Lowood, for the last two as a teacher. She wasbusy and happy all that time, however, suddenly she realized she had never knownany other world apart from Lowood or Gateshead. She wanted freedom, decided tochange her life or at least a new master to serve. So she advertised in anewspaper for a job as a governess and then came to Thornfield.
The following story is as what happened in the film Sound of Music.
The governess of no presence moved Mr Rochester with herbeautiful, simplehearted and frank soul. The dialogue between Jane and Rochesterwas interesting. Rochester was clever but a little peculiar,Jane thought shedidn t really understand him and never sure whether hes serious or joking. So shealways speaking carefully and keeping serious to build a wall that she think arethere to protect herself.Fortunately, finally she had the courage to take downthe wall and express her love to Mr Rochester. She said:“Do you think I can watchanother woman become your bride?Do you think I m a machine, whitout feelings?Doyou think, because I m small and poor and plain, that I have no soul and noheart?Well, you re wrong!I have as much soul and heart as you.It is my spiritthat speaks to your spirit! We are equal in the sight of God!”
I believe when you heard what she said all of you will stand in awe ofJane. When I thought the story would come to an end,a sudden, surprising changewere taking place.
On the wedding day,Jane found the secret of Rochester. The wedding cannotcontinue because Mr Rochester was already married and his wife was stillalive! His explanation made Jane forgive him at once in her heart because sheknew what he said was true. However,in her heart she also knew it was right forher to leave.
She left Mr Rochester when he was rich and health butcame back even thoughhe was bland and disabled.I think that is true love.
英语简爱观后感5After reading Jane Eyre, I think Jane Eyre is a great woman. Through aserious of troublesome situations between Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester, theauthor set up a great female image before readers: insisting on maintaining anindependent personality, pursuing individual freedom, advocating equality oflife and being confident before hard conditions.
Her early life at Gateshead was terrible, everyone seems harsh on her. Shesurvives her parents at an early age, and has to live with her ugly aunt andthree cousins. Shesuffers large quantities of bad conditions that others may notexperience. However, she does not give up in despair, she does not destroyherself mentally, instead, JaneEyre is filled with unlimited confidence, and sheis a strong spirit, a victory over theinner personality.
She is then forced to send to Lowood Institution, unfortunately, life thereturns out to be terrible, too. She is still under physical and spiritualpunishment. Mr Brocklehurst insults her to be a liar before all pupils andteachers. But there shemeets one sincere friend Helen Burns and one sincereteacher Miss Temple. They always treat her well. She then behaves very well andget many people’s recognition. Six years later, she makes a teacher there.
After two years teaching life at Lowood Institution, she plans to leavethere to pursuit her own life and happiness. She was in a position of governessthrough a letter from Thornfield. Her life was totally changed after that. Thereshe met a lovely girl, Adele and her master, Mr. Rochester. She has a specialfeeling about them. With the development of the plots, Jane Eyre succeed a largesum of money from his uncle, and through all bitter things which was caused byRochester’s wife in Thornfield, Jane Eyre and Mr.Rockester finally get marriedand lead an ideal life.
I think Jane Eyre is an autobiography of Charlotte Bronte. Although thestory is made up, the heroine and people's life and the environment in the storywere taken from the details of real people around and experience. CharlotteBronte described a young girl’s struggling life to express her inner thought:everyone is equal regardless of his or her gender. The uniqueness of Jane Eyreis not only lies in its truth and the strong artistic appeal, but also lies inthe particular female image. Thelove story of Rochester and Jane Eyre vividlyshows the fire of passion and sincereheart strongly reveals their notions oflove. She looks down upon the upper class who only use their power to do whatthey intend to do and laughs at their stupid to show her independent characterand beauty dream.
In the actual fact, she wasn’t pretty, even herself knows that, and ofcourse, theordinary appearance make others have bad opinion on her, even her ownaunt dislike her. And some others even thought that she was easy to look downupon and tease, but she was totally much more than “the plain and ugly tutor”.And as a little governess she said to her master: “Do you think my poor, obscure, plain, and little has led me to be a soulless and heartless person? Youhave done a wrong thing!”Underneath these lines sees the equality of human inJane Eyre’s mind. She has affection towards her master, Mr. Rochester, but whenshe finds that he has already had a wife, she leaves him and her love placewithout consideration. Although God did not grant her a beauty and wealthperson, instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thoughtful brain. Her idea ofequality and self-respect impressed us extremely much and make us feel the powerinside her small body.
In my mind, a person’s beauty on the face can only make others feel that heor sheis attractive or charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same noble as theappearance, beauty of this kind cannot last for a long time, because otherpeople will one day find that the beauty which had charmed them was only asuperficial one, it’s not sincere, they will not like the person any more. For along time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can becalled as an everlasting beauty, just as Albert Einstein said: “A person must beheld accountable for their biological survival or all of the meaning or purpose, from an objective point of view, I think it is ridiculous. Everyone can have acertain ideal, which determines the ideal and his efforts to determine thedirection. In this sense, I never easy and the enjoyment of life as an end initself, the ethical basis of this, I call it the ideal pigsty. I lit up theroad, and continue to give me new courage to face up to the pleasure of the ideal lifeis good and the beautiful and true. If it were not for like-minded betweenthewarm feelings, but focus on the objective world, the arts and sciences in thefield of work will never reach the target, and then it seems to me that lifewould be empty. There are efforts to pursue the goal of the vulgar - property, vanity, luxury living, I think it is despicable.”
Now I get a better understanding of what real beauty is, as we are allhuman-beings, so we should distinguish whether a man is noble or vulgar.
Jane Eyre’s story makes me thinking about our future life and I learn muchfrom her experiences, I know everyone will have a better tomorrow if one holdshis beliefs, regardless of one’s status and the situation he is in.
